The On-Call Deans provide support and assistance to students in need of emergency, after-hours crisis care, including those who have been transported to local hospitals. These SCWB staff members are on call 24-7, 365 days a year to support students experiencing unexpected emergencies. When notified, SCWB also follows up with the student to provide support, connect them to campus resources and, if necessary, to send an instructor notification if the student will miss class.
Please note, the instructor notification is merely a courtesy notification and not an official excuse for missing class. It is the student’s responsibility to follow up with their professors regarding their absence. For more information about student absences and how to report them, please refer to our Student Absence page.
Other On-Call Services
Students in need of other after-hours, emergency care (counseling, victim advocacy) can speak with an on-call counselor (from the Counseling Center) or on-call victim advocate (from the Women and Gender Resource Center) by contacting UAPD at (205) 348-5454.
