There are several emergency situations that could arise and cause you to miss a class or multiple classes. Review the links below for information related to absences caused by emergency situations.
What services does the University offer?
UA offers a variety of services depending on a student’s situation and qualifying conditions. Review the links below for information related to students with disabilities, students suffering injuries, students needing mental health counseling and students seeking academic support.
Can I submit a report for an academic or non-academic complaint?
The complaint and appeals form below can be accessed using the following link. Complaints may be made anonymously, but we encourage you to submit your contact information so that we can more easily follow up with you about your submission.
How can I help a friend or student who is struggling?
If you know a student who is struggling with mental health, financial concerns, housing insecurity or other issues that could put them or other students at risk of harm, please submit the student of concern report using the link below. Do not use this form if you are reporting an emergency situation. To report emergency situations, call UAPD at 205-348-5454.
Can I switch from in-person to online classes during a semester?
No, students are not able to switch to a fully online schedule from a fully in-person schedule during a semester and vice-versa. Classes are finalized after the registration window closes. Students needing to drop a class or withdraw from the university should contact their academic advisor.
What happens if a student has to miss class because of military duties?
Military-related absences are excused. Please visit our Military-Related Absences and Leave section for more information.
What happens if I get injured and need temporary services related to my injury?
The Office of Disability Services can help students with qualifying temporary impairments. For more information, visit their Temporary Impairments page.
